July 4, 2008, Halifax - Ruth Wells lost her home and everything in it to the massive forest fire that ripped through the Porters Lake area last month, but she says she’ll be forever grateful to the firefighters who managed to save the rest of her community. July 3, 2008, Toronto - Residents who were forced to evacuate following a fire at a flour mill in Woodbridge were being allowed back into their homes Thursday. As the Toronto Star reports, the fire at Hayhoe Mills began just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. It took a dozen fire trucks and around 40 firefighters from Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Markham to get it under control just after midnight. READ MORE
