FIRE CHIEF

Fire & Rescue Services is committed to supporting and working in a progressive fire and emergency service environment. We are seeking a Fire Chief who will be responsible for providing overall leadership for all aspects of the Fire & Rescue Services business centre, including short & long term planning, daily operations, and its physical, financial & human resources. You will act as the senior fire representative for the Town when dealing with government agencies, such as the Fire Commissioners Office and Safety Codes Council (Fire) and Alberta Municipal Affairs (QMP, Disaster Services), other organizations and the public. You are accountable to coordinate planning and provision of disaster services in cooperation with all protective and support services, Alberta Disaster Services and mutual aid partners, including corporate business continuation planning.

The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Fire Services Management plus at least 10 years experience in progressively more responsible positions. An equivalent amount of post-secondary education and experience (Firefighting 1001 certification) may be considered. You will have extensive knowledge of fire inspections, the Alberta Fire Code, Building Code, and be a Safety Codes Officer with a minimum level of Inspector 2, as well as experience with fire investigations and hold at least an Investigator 1 certification. Must be a minimum registered Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance (EMT-A). Excellent public relations, presentation, supervisory, interpersonal oral and written skills are necessary. A valid Class 3 & 4 Drivers License with Q endorsement is required.

This is a management position that enjoys both LAPP and APEX pension contributions. The average work week is generally Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Salary Range: $82K to $90K annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
