Oct. 29, 2012, Winnipeg - We’ve had a major disaster in Elliot Lake with a mall collapse. British Columbia has just been reminded of the seismic risks its faces, with a 7.7 magnitude quake that apparently did little in major damage. But the big one that is predicted to eventually strike the west coast is one day closer. And now, Southern Ontario needs to prepare for a possible weather bomb.

Oct. 23, 2012, Redwood Meadows, Alta. – Show of hands: How many of you live in the best village, town, city in the country? Let’s face it, we all do. But did our community ever appear to rise above others on the weekend. The Redwood Meadows Firefighters’ Association (RMFA) held its fourth bi-yearly ball on Saturday. This year’s proceeds will be handed over to the town to help offset the costs of our new rescue truck.

What a crazy, busy summer it was – the season had me temporarily drafted to the Planning Department from September to December and us selling our house and moving last weekend. Oct. 23, 2012, Toronto - During the presidential election debate last evening, Mitt Romney pointed out that the U.S. Navy has fewer ships today than it did in 1916. President Obama replied, as you may have seen tweeted or parodied, that it also has fewer horses and bayonets. Sarcasm for sure, but what a great way to make a point. Technology has changed and continues to change.
