May 10, 2012, Toronto - From May 10 to June 30, the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Office of the Fire Marshal, invites public comment on a package of proposed changes for the next edition of the Ontario Fire Code (OFC).
The OFM said in an e-bulletin Friday that the proposed changes have been compiled from a variety of submissions and reflect Ontario’s ongoing participation in a nationally co-ordinated code-development strategy. The proposed changes do not represent government policy, the OFM said. "Your views will be considered before the government makes final decisions regarding the next edition of the code."
The OFM noted that a separate initiative is underway to review fire safety provisions for vulnerable residents.
"As this review is proceeding on a different schedule, technical changes contained in the current consultation package do not include proposals dealing with the subject of vulnerable occupancies," it said.
