Civic funeral to be held today for Montreal firefighter
Written by The Canadian Press
July 20, 2012, Montreal – A funeral will be held later today for a Montreal firefighter who died after being struck by a fire truck at the scene of a blaze.

The service for Thierry Godfrind will be held at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal.

The 39-year-old Godfrind died a week ago today after being hit by the same vehicle that brought him to the fire.

He joined the Montreal fire department in 2010.

Godfrind was the first Montreal firefighter to die in action since 2006.
