West Kelowna marina fire declared out
Written by The Canadian Press
Aug. 8, 2012, West Kelowna, B.C. – A section of the gas dock at an Okanagan Lake marina has been damaged in an early morning fire, but crews have doused the flames and kept them from spreading to nearby boats.

The blaze at the Shelter Bay Marina, in West Kelowna, broke out at around 5 a.m.

A senior official with Big White Ski Resorts, Michael Ballingal, says he keeps his boat at the facility and crews had the flames controlled before 7 a.m.

According to Ballingal, the gas shed is destroyed, but the gas barge remains intact.

Ballingal says vessels just a few metres from the fire do not appear damaged.

There's no word on injuries or a cause of the blaze.
