Fire forces men to abandon powerboat on lake
Written by The Canadian Press
Sept. 27, 2012, Sydney, N.S. – Police in Cape Breton say two men in their 20s were forced to abandon a powerboat that caught fire on the Bras d'Or Lake, Wednesday.

Staff Sgt. Stephen MacKinnon of the Cape Breton Regional Police Service says police and firefighters from Sydney Mines assisted two men at the shoreline near Long Island in Bras d'Or at about 5:30 p.m.

Police say the men swam to shore after the eight-metre boat caught fire.

Neither man suffered any injury, although there was significant damage to the boat.

Police do not believe the fire is suspicious.
