The vote for our January cover of Canadian Firefighter turned into a regional battle between search and rescue team members in Manitoba and Halifax.
Stu Carruthers, who was featured on Cover 1, e-mailed last week, proudly letting me know that he was the unnamed guy in the orange suit on the cover.
Shortly thereafter, the number of votes started climbing.
The Halifax team, whose Steve Koch appeared on Cover 3, had taken an early lead but the Manitoba team pulled ahead and pretty much stayed there until we ended the vote on Tuesday.
(Yep, we know it still says on the home page that you can vote but that’s because the only person who knows how to take the vote off the page is on holidays! Sorry!).
We’re not sure what happened to the Toronto voters. Cover 2, with Neil Wootton of Toronto’s heavy urban search and rescue team, came in third.

Well said Brent. | Brent MacDonald Written by Brent MacDonald on 2008-01-18 23:57:39 It's because Manitoba has proven time and time again, that we are the best team in the country, and we stick together even if it is for a picture of the ugliest team member we have, lol |
