Firefighter bravery awards
Written by Laura King
I'm still catching up after being away on a training course for three days last week. In my web searches this morning, I came across a press release from the province of Ontario listing recipients of the Ontario medals for firefighter and police bravery.

The awards were given out at a ceremony at Queen’s Park on Jan. 18. to the following firefighters:

  • Capt. James Hart, acting captain Terry Stewart and firefighters Derrick Cherun and Mark Thornhill of the Toronto Fire Services;

  • Firefighter Michel Roland Proulx of the Greater Sudbury Fire Services;

  • Firefighter Robert Walker of the Hamilton Emergency Services;

  • Captain Pat Elliott and firefighter Kevin Martin Harold Fillier of the Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department.

You can read the compelling stories that led to these awards on the Ontario government website. It’s worth taking the time to do so.
