Ontario fallen firefigher memorial
ffic06

Tim Beckett, president of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs,
pauses while OAFC first vice-president Kevin Foster lays a wreath
during the annual Ontario Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial ceremony
at Queen's Park Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of firefighters attended
the ceremony to honour those who have died in the line of duty or
from work-related illnesses. Twenty-four names were added to the
monument. The monument now has 553 names etched in stone to
remember those who have given their lives for the citizens of Ontario.

the memorial is a red Maltese Cross,
an international symbol for fire
fighting. The bronze sculpture shows
