Fire near Lytton, B.C. prompts evacuations
June 12, 2015, Lytton, B.C. - A wildfire threatening structures south of Lytton, B.C., grew to 13 square kilometres late Thursday and prompted some evacuations on the Lytton First Nation.

The province’s Wildfire Management Branch said the fire on the west side of the Fraser River was not yet contained and was generating smoke that could be seen as far away as the north Okanagan.
The agency said an evacuation order has been issued by the Lytton First Nations Band for 10 properties, with an additional 60-65 properties placed on evacuation alert.
The Wildfire Management Branch earlier said 40 firefighters were on their way to help 22 colleagues and two helicopters already battling the blaze.
Twenty firefighters were to remain in the fire zone overnight.
Fire information officer Melissa Klassen said high winds were a problem on Thursday afternoon but the agency said the wind was expected to ease through the night and be in the 10 to 20 kilometre-per-hour range on Friday.
