Gananoque, township fire chief suspended

Sept. 21, 2016, Gananoque, Ont. - Longtime fire Chief Gerry Bennett has been abruptly suspended by Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands. The two municipalities, which share the cost of Bennett’s salary, were tight-lipped about the reason for the suspension with pay, announcing the move in a tense news statement Monday evening.
