Girl dies in hospital after apartment fire

Corner Brook, N.L. - Police say a 16-year-old girl badly injured in an apartment fire in western Newfoundland has died in a Halifax hospital.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the teen was airlifted to the IWK Health Centre where she was pronounced dead.

Police say a 41-year-old woman also seriously injured in the fire is reported in stable condition at a hospital in St. John's, N.L.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at an apartment complex in Corner Brook on Friday.

Police say they continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
