The two and a half minute YouTube video shows a dizzy and bloodied Andrew MacDonald smiling for the camera as emergency responders from Duncan, B.C., cut him from his 1993 Honda Accord on Jan. 11.

He says in his post that he blacked out while behind the wheel and drove straight into a pole on the driver’s side at 60 kilometres an hour.

MacDonald says his injuries included a broken right arm, broken left femur, two broken kneecaps, and two broken ankles.

He says he spent a month in a Victoria hospital following 14 hours of surgery that resulted in “metal plates and screws all over.”

RCMP Cpl. Darren Lagan says the single-vehicle crash did not result in charges for MacDonald.
