Water bombers were being used Tuesday to battle the Cormorant blaze, which was close to roads and the railways.

Fire damaged the transmission line providing power to the community of Sherridon, but Manitoba Hydro expected to have the power restored soon.

The fire was about half a square kilometre in size and was also being fought with water bombers.

Dry conditions led to the cancellation of all burning permits in the region north of Flin Flon, while campfires will not be allowed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in Bakers Narrows, Wekusko Falls, Grass
River and Clearwater Lake provincial parks.
