Alberta brush fire prompts evacuation of 50 homes

Sept. 11, 2013, Fort McMurray, Alta. – About 50 homes in the northern oilsands community of Fort McMurray, Alta., were briefly evacuated as a precaution due to a nearby brush fire.

RCMP said Tuesday the winds in the region were high and there was a risk the fire could move quickly.

However, late in the evening residents were allowed to return to their homes and the fire was reported to be under control.

There were no reports of injuries or structural damage to homes or buildings in the area.
