May 9, 2011, Quebec – The military is now being deployed in a second province to help battle rising floodwaters.

Soldiers have been on duty along the Richelieu River in southeastern Quebec since last week and are now going to help sandbag along the Assiniboine near Brandon, Manitoba.

A mandatory evacuation order for about 900 homes has been issued there, with water levels close to the top of the city's dikes.

The Assiniboine has already passed the record level in Brandon set during the flood of 1923, and there's rain in the forecast for the next few days.
