CAFC launches learning portal for members

Canadian chiefs interested in professional development now have the option of going online to take courses at their leisure through the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC).

The association has launched an online leadership portal that is offering 15 courses on professional development free of charge to its members. The courses are run through the web-based learning company Skillsoft.

Paul Boissonneault, president of the CAFC, said in a news release that the portal is a way for the association to increase membership and retain current members.

The program, he said, “reduces the cost of learning and offers leadership development for more employees . . . all for the cost of a CAFC membership.”

According to the release, the CAFC has access to more than 1,000 courses on topics including finance, human resources, leadership, project management, communication, negotiation, managing organizational change, facilitating, and workplace conflict.

As interest grows, Boissonneault said, the CAFC will offer more course options to its members.
