Becoming a career firefighter can seem like a daunting task for some when you consider the schooling, training, volunteer hours, reference checks and more that many chiefs take into consideration during the hiring process.
Fire Chief Cynthia Hammond didn’t have to take her focus off the firefighters making entry during her first significant structural fire as the chief of Inuvik, N.W.T.’s fire department for one second. She trusted that her pump operator knew what he was doing. She knew the water was coming.
Finding a career that pays the bills and fulfills your passion at the same time can prove difficult. Mykhail Baehr has managed to combine two; fire fighting and photography.
Kochek Company, LLC, a manufacturer of specialty fire equipment and water movement solutions, announced that its new chrome aluminum coating is available for all its products.
Technologies in the fire service are always evolving and manufacturers are constantly researching and developing fire service innovations, often based on the input of firefighters who are on the front line.
Apr. 23, 2018, Peace River, Alta. - Deputy Fire Chief Julien Bergeron from Alberta's Northern Sunrise County Protective Services has organized a fundraiser to raise awareness for firefighter health, fitness and funds for the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF).

Julien plans on running/jogging from Grande Prairie to Peace River this June and is selling legs of his journey to other fire departments. He has already met 85 per cent of his $10,000 goal and all of the proceeds will be donated directly to the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation was created to honour and remember firefighters who have been killed in the line of duty and to support their families. The CFFF is a registered charity and operates by fundraising.

The run should take four to five days and Julien will have travelled 220 kilometres by the time he is finished.

Check out his Northern Trek for CFFF information page and how you or your department can get involved!
