Sept. 16, 2013, London, Ont. – One person is dead following an early morning house fire in London, Ont., and police say they are treating the blaze as suspicious.

Authorities say a 911 call was made around 3:30 a.m. Monday from someone who noticed smoke and flames coming out of an east-end home.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze, emergency crews found a body inside the house.

Police have not been able to determine whether the person died as a result of the fire or before it happened and there's no immediate word on who the victim might be, or whether it's a man or a woman.

However, a neighbour said a man had been renting the home for the past six months, and described him as "friendly."

Damage to the residence is estimated at $100,000 and police say the investigation is ongoing.
