Calgary firefighters use carpentry skills in rescue
March 26, 2015, Calgary - Firefighters had to reinforce a garage roof as a precaution before a driver could be rescued from a vehicle that had crashed into a home in Calgary.
Emergency officials say the man was trapped and unresponsive after a sport utility vehicle slammed into the attached garage of the house overnight in a southeast neighbourhood.
There was concern the roof might collapse, so firefighters shored up the damaged areas and called in their confined space rescue team to pull the man out.
The driver was taken to hospital, but his condition is not known.
One person who was inside the home at the time was not hurt.
