May 3, 2012 – Canadian fire director, Claude Beauchamp is among four awardees selected to participate in Harvard University’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program, co-sponsored by the NFPA.
The three-week program will focus on ensuring that public officials are well-equipped to be effective public leaders. Participants work together on real-life case studies, and learn to challenge assumptions, develop new conceptual frameworks for addressing policy issues, and understand the behavioural dimensions of decision-making.
Beauchamp, who is currently the director of operations for the Quebec National Fire Academy, will participate as a fellowship in the program, which commences this summer.
“NFPA is pleased to support the continued professional development of members of the fire service by co-sponsoring their participation in this Harvard University program,” said Chief Russ Sanders, NFPA’s central regional director.
“As a former participant in the program, I fully understand the tremendous benefits this unique learning experience offers to help professionals develop skills that enhance leadership abilities and ultimately influence change.”
