Council defers decision on fire service review

Sept. 23, 2015, Calgary - Councillors deferred a contentious zero-based review of Calgary’s fire department to a public hearing later this fall to hear input from stakeholders and the public. The city’s priorities and finance committee reviewed Tuesday a consultant’s report which made dozens of recommendations — such as slashing the “top heavy” department — to make the system more efficient and effective.
