The Central Okanagan Regional District says an emergency operation centre has been closed after crews made excellent progress fighting the Cinnabar Creek wildfire.
The B.C. Wildfire Service has taken control and over the next few days firefighters will be working to completely extinguish the nearly three hectare blaze.
A crew from the Wilson’s Landing fire department will monitor the blaze overnight Thursday to put out any hotspots.
An evacuation alert for a resort and two camps was issued Wednesday afternoon shortly after the flames broke out, but it was lifted early Thursday morning as calm winds and cooler temperatures aided crews.
The fire had also closed a section of Westside Road, but the district said Thursday afternoon the road had reopened to all traffic north and southbound.
