Manitoba proposes strengthened measures to prevent human-caused wildfires

The Manitoba government has introduced amendments to the Wildfires Act that would enhance public safety by strengthening measures to mitigate human-caused wildfire risks, Natural Resources and Northern Development Minister Greg Nesbitt announced today.


Bill 25 would ensure wildfire firefighters in Manitoba benefit from firefighter cancer, heart injury presumption

Bill 25, the Workers Compensation Amendment Act (wildfire firefighters), is being introduced to ensure wildfire firefighters benefit from cancer and heart injury presumption that applies to other Manitoba firefighters under the Workers Compensation Act.


Fort Saskatchewan reveals new 10 minute fire response plan

The city of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., has revamped its fire response map. As part of an effort to update the city’s fire master plan, a new map has been revealed that shows the local fire department’s 10-minute response capabilities.


Not enough water to battle motel blaze, says North Bay fire chief
