Weekend fire destroys Newfoundland church

The Centreville-Wareham-Trinity Fire Department says firefighters arrived around 7 a.m. to find the church ablaze and its roof caved in.

Fire Chief Bob Parsons says more than a dozen volunteers responded but that the wooden building was largely destroyed by the time the call came in.

He says the only heat on in the church at the time was an electric heater in the washroom but that the cause of the fire is not clear.

Parsons says nobody was hurt.
