Explosion leaves garage, boat, RV in ashes

Feb. 8, 2012, Fort St. John, B.C. – An explosion has levelled a garage in Fort St. John.

Fire officials in that northeastern B.C. city say the owner had just returned home yesterday evening and was opening the door of the garage when the blast occurred, followed by a raging fire.

The owner is OK, but the garage – and an RV and river boat stored inside – are in ashes.

Firefighters had to wait for crews to turn off the natural gas to the property last night, but will return to the scene today to search for a cause of the blast.
