Fire forces evacuation of seniors home

July 10, 2015, Old Perlican, N.L. - An early morning fire has forced the evacuation of a seniors home in eastern Newfoundland.

RCMP say the fire was reported around 6 a.m. at the Bay de Verde Peninsula Manor in Old Perlican.

The local fire department managed to extinguish the flames, but the facility was left badly damaged.

No one was injured.

All of the home's residents are receiving help from the town, their families or the Red Cross.

The Mounties are investigating the cause of the fire.
