Smoke was pouring from the roof when firefighters arrived around
midnight Monday at The Cave, located in a commercial plaza at 597
Wyandotte St. E. at Aylmer Avenue just east of Windsor Water World.

"There
are no obvious causes of the fire," said Staff Sgt. Gerry Corriveau of
the Windsor police financial crimes unit and an arson investigator.

He
said evidence has been sent for forensic analysis at the Centre of
Forensic Sciences in Toronto but that results could take a number of
weeks.

Chief Fire Prevention Officer Lee Tome said the establishment was closed at the time and there were no injuries.

He said the fire was contained to the plaza unit housing the restaurant.

Corriveau
said the fire started in the kitchen area a short time after the
operator of the restaurant had locked up for the night at about 11 p.m.
Sunday, but he said the blaze wasn't initiated by anything left on the
stove.
