Platoon Captain Dale Gallagher says fire crews responded to an explosion late Monday morning and found the house engulfed in flames.

No one was home at the time, and there have been no reports of injuries.

Gallagher says natural gas was going to the house, but it's not yet known what caused the explosion.

He says the house is a “total writeoff'' that's been reduced to a pile of rubble.

The blast also damaged siding and blew out some windows in neighbouring homes.
