Firefighters say the 370-square-metre residence in the city's south
end was almost engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene.

The firefighter was taken to hospital and was later listed in stable condition.

Three people and two dogs were removed from a neighbouring home as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is not known, but the city's arson strike force is investigating.
