Sept. 19, 2011, Calgary – Firefighters from across Alberta have joined Dr. Riley Senft in his cross-Canada run to raise awareness of prostate cancer. This morning, Senft was joined west of Calgary by Redwood Meadows and Rocky View County firefighters. Senft's run began May 7 at mile zero in Cape Spear, N.L. Since then, he has run almost 60 kilometres a day, hoping to end his run in Vancouver in October. After crossing into Alberta, Senft was joined by long-time friend Russ Jenkins, a paid firefighter with Rocky View Fire Service (RVFS) and a volunteer with Redwood Meadows Emergency Services (RMES). Senft (centre) was joined on Monday by Alberta firefighters (left to right) Dwight Lamoureux (RMES), Craig Stephens (RMES/RVFS), Chris Giddens (RVFS/RMES) and Garret Somers (RMES).
