Firefighters rescue dog after fall through ice
Dec. 17, 2012, Enfield, N.S. - Firefighters rescued a dog yesterday morning after it fell through thin ice on Grand Lake in Nova Scotia.
December 17, 2012 By The Canadian Press
The dog, described as a giant breed, somehow got loose, ran from the Monte Vista Road area and ventured out onto the ice after 10 a.m.
Terry MacAloney, deputy chief of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department, says two people in a canoe farther out in the lake grabbed the dog and held its head above the water until fire rescue crews arrived.
Two firefighters wearing flotation suits broke their way through the ice to reach the dog.
Firefighters brought the dog to shore and back to its owners.
