Firefighters’ union turns to Ministry of Labour
Guelph, Ont. - Guelph and the union representing its firefighters are asking the Ministry of Labour to appoint a conciliator to help them reach a contract settlement.
There have been seven negotiation meetings between the city and the Guelph Professional Firefighters' Association.
Two more meetings are scheduled for next month.
The city says it's hoping a ministry-appointed conciliator will help the two sides avoid going to arbitration.
