Firefighters work to free buried excavators

April 3, 2012, Montreal - Two workers have been buried in a trench this afternoon while doing excavation work in a Montreal suburb.

Montreal firefighters say one of the two was completely covered with earth and concrete.

They say they were able to free one worker, but there have been problems reaching the second one.

Wood panels had to be installed around the site to protect firefighters who were involved in the rescue attempt.

The accident happened Montreal's Lachine borough.
