Jan. 21, 2013, Sarnia, Ont. – Sarnia's former fire chief is facing 26 new charges in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual assaults.
Sarnia police Const. Heather Emmons says officers arrested Patrick Cayen, 54, on Monday.
Cayen was first charged in November on 28 counts of sexual assault relating to two alleged victims.
Police say the new charges are in relation to three additional alleged victims who have come forward as a result of the ongoing investigation.
Last week, Sarnia's city manager announced Cayen's employment with the Sarnia Fire Service had been terminated.
A publication ban, imposed by the courts, prohibits the time frame, location of offences and identity of the alleged victims from being made public.
Emmons says Cayen was released on similar conditions as his previous release and will appear in court Tuesday to speak to all the charges.
"Mr. Cayen was arrested this morning by members of our Criminal Investigations Branch and he is facing 26 new Criminal Code charges," Emmons said Monday. "They are all sex-related and they pre-date those already before the courts."
