Fredericton firefighters investigate possible arsons

Firefighters were called to an area behind MacDonald Builders and Suppliers Ltd. early Sunday to find several piles of plastic patio blocks, wooden shelving, lumber and nearby trees in flames.

Platoon Capt. Steve Fraser said the fire was near a walking trail and was fully involved when they arrived at about 3:30 a.m.

The second fire was on another part of the trail about two hours later.

Fraser said somebody piled up election signs and set fire to them, destroying a picnic table.

He said it's too early to say if the two fires are connected.
