Halifax names new ermegency services chief director

Nov. 9, 2011, Halifax - The Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service announced late Wednesday that Doug Trussler has been selected as chief director.

Trussler joins HRM on Jan. 3 after a successful career as fire chief with the District of North Vancouver.

An announcement from Mike Labrecque, HRM’s deputy chief administrative officer, said Trussler brings more than 26 years of professional fire-service delivery to the Halifax-based post, 21 of these years in chief officer positions.

The announcement said Trussler has extensive experience in the recruitment and selection process, significant service advancements in the delivery of municipal fire services, is a strong supporter of community outreach programs to grow awareness of firefighting as a career and has had considerable and successful experience establishing and maintaining successful relationships with varied stakeholders
