Police Const. Jana McGuinness says crowds in Vancouver's downtown
core were very heavy and officers responded to a number of calls around
the city for alcohol-fuelled disturbances.
But McGuinness says while some assaults were reported, none of the incidents were particularly serious.
Fire
Captain Gabe Roder says members of his department attended more than 30
fires on Halloween night, though none of the blazes caused major damage.
Roder says the fires all appeared to be deliberately set and dumpsters, portable toilets and even five vehicles were ignited.
