Oct. 10, 2013, Edmonton – One person has been injured in a small explosion at a chemistry laboratory at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
The blast happened Wednesday afternoon on the fifth floor of the Gunning-Lemieux Chemistry Centre.
Fire officials say they believe two graduate students were in the lab at the time of the blast.
The explosion did not result in a fire, but a hazardous materials team was called in to secure the facility.
A message from the university released on Twitter overnight describes the accident as a chemistry lab mishap and that one person was taken to hospital.
