May 2007- Alberta – Through an innovative new partnership, the Calgary Roughnecks and Calgary Fire Department have teamed up for the 2007 National Lacrosse League campaign to promote home fire safety. Kids aged 12 and under will be able to learn valuable fire safety lessons while following their Calgary Roughnecks.

Roughnecks players and Calgary firefighters are committed to supporting community safety education and have developed a fun and exciting new learning program. With the expertise of the fire service, fire safety drills have been developed and reside on the Roughnecks official website.

During the season, young lacrosse fans can complete a new safety drill each month in order to learn fire safety
messages and to have the opportunity to win great prizes. At the completion of the contest, one lucky winner will be chosen to act as deputy fire chief for a day. The winner will live the life of a fire fighter including meeting the fire chief, riding in the big red truck and sharing a fire house lunch.  In addition the winer will receive a Calgary Roughnecks prize pack, which will include merchandise and game tickets.

The Calgary Fire Department will also have a presence at each and every Roughnecks home game.
