N.S. residents flee brush fire
May 1, 2009, Halifax - More resident have been forced to flee their Halifax-area homes as an intense brush fire continues to burn on the outskirts of the city.

Shaune MacKinlay, a spokeswoman for the municipality, says 140 more homes were evacuated overnight after a flare up in Purcell's Cove.
Yesterday, more than 300 homes were evacuated as firefighters scrambled to contain tall flames whipped up by rapidly shifting winds.
MacKinlay says at least eight homes have been badly damaged or destroyed, and another 10 have suffered some damage.
One man said he drove through flames as he left his driveway yesterday.
MacKinlay says fire crews were back on the scene this morning battling flames.
Meanwhile, residents taking shelter at an evacuation centre are awaiting a morning briefing from officials on the situation.
MacKinlay says people are still “dealing with the shock of what happened.''
A Department of Natural Resources helicopter is helping fight the fire, and New Brunswick has sent a water bomber.
