May 20, 2008, Winnipeg - Fire engine R6, its lights flashing, hurtles down historic Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg's north end, leaving a cloud of dust and a fading siren in its wake. It's 11:30 p.m. in Winnipeg's arson zone, and as far as fires go, this one is prosaic: a commercial garbage bin filled with broken plywood spewing flames two metres into the night sky.
