Hero Pipe fights high-rise fires safely

Feb. 19, 2010 - The Hero Pipe is a telescoping tool designed to allow firefighters to safely fight fires on the upper floors of tall buildings. Constructed from anodized aluminum, the Hero Pipe can be assembled by a team of two and clamped securely to a window sill to allow firefighters to direct a master stream at the fire safely from a floor below. The Hero Pipe features hydraulic stabilizing bars for securing the device between floors and ceilings and a control valve and pressure gauge to eliminate the need to communicate between the standpipe and appliance.
