Sept. 14, 2011, Newfoundland and Labrador – The International Association of Fire Fighters says it keeps getting blocked in its attempts to secure a meeting with Newfoundland and Labrador's premier.

The province is among the few that doesn't have legislation to protect firefighters who develop cancer while on the job.

Association official Alex Forrest says he's spoken with premiers in each of the provinces, but hasn't been able to get a meeting with Premier Kathy Dunderdale.

Forrest says proposed legislation would compensate firefighters who develop cancer as a result of the materials they come into contact with during a fire.
