Indigenous people five times more likely to die in fire: study

Mar. 25, 2021, Winnipeg – A new study shows Indigenous people are five times more likely to die in a fire than non-Indigenous people. The study by Statistics Canada commissioned by the National Indigenous Fire Safety Council (NIFSC) Project also shows the likelihood of death from a fire is 10 times higher for those living on reserve.
