Man charged in fatal Saskatchewan house fire

Oct. 7, 2013, Pelican Narrows, Sask. – RCMP have charged a man with arson in the house fire last month in northeastern Saskatchewan that killed a 10-year-old girl.

The girl's grandparents managed to escape the flames that destroyed the house Sept. 24 in the remote community of Pelican Narrows.

Police identified the dead girl as Denasia Highway.

Darryl Craig Sewap also faces a charge of criminal negligence causing death.

The 19-year-old appeared in Prince Albert provincial court Friday on the charges.
