Man dies after snowmobile plunges through ice

Dec. 28, 2012, Hopedale, N.L. – RCMP say a 63-year-old man died after his snowmobile broke through the ice covering the harbour in Hopedale, Newfoundland.

The Mounties say yesterday's accident was witnessed by several people who tried to help the victim.

They managed to remove him from the water, but police say he was unresponsive.

The man was taken to a local clinic but he couldn't be revived.
