Man dies in Toronto condo fire

Dec. 28, 2012, Toronto – Police say a man has died after a fire broke out at his condo unit in downtown Toronto early today.

Firefighters worked to save the man, but he was pronounced dead.

Residents on the sixth floor of the eight-floor building (at 255 Richmond Street) were evacuated and held in a transit bus.

The blaze, which broke out just before 5 a.m., was quickly extinguished and investigators are looking into the cause.

It's unclear if other units in the building were damaged.

The man's name has not been released.
