September 6, 2019, Ottawa – Over 40 firefighters who embarked on a three-day cycling ride from Hamilton, Ont., on Sept. 4, will be arriving at the National Memorial site in Ottawa this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

The third Annual Bike Pilgrimage will cover over 575 kilometres. The ride is being led by the Toronto Professional Firefighters Celtic Society, and includes colleagues from Hamilton, Mississauga, Whitby, Kingston, Ottawa, and Stephenville, Nfld.

The purpose of the ride is to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF), which hosts the Canadian Firefighters Annual Memorial Ceremony to honourand support the families of firefighters whose lives were lost in the line of duty.

This year, ninety names have been etched on the Memorial Wall, adding to the 1411 names already included of fallen firefighters from across Canada and the territories.
